Jonathan W. Siegel

Brief Bio

I am an Assistant Professor in the mathematics department at Texas A&M University. Previously I was an Assistant Research Professor in the Mathematics Department at Penn State working with Professor Jinchao Xu. I received my PhD in mathematics from UCLA in 2018 under the direction of Russel Caflisch.

My research interests are in the fields of approximation theory, the mathematical theory of neural networks, statistics, and numerical methods for solving PDEs. I have also worked on numerical optimization, partial differential equations, deep learning and compressed sensing as well as their applications to materials science. My work is supported by the National Science Foundation (DMS-2424305 and CCF-2205004) and the Office of Naval Research (MURI ONR grant N00014-20-1-2787). You can find more details on my research here.
